We have a special section for trade/sale offers and requests between members (The Black Market). All trade dealings are strictly between the private parties involved, and the board staff cannot become involved in refereeing disputes, and the Sixth Division takes no responsibility for trade difficulties between individuals. Be careful who you choose to deal with, and excercise caution and common sense in your transactions.

Individuals who have or develop a clear reputation for perpetrating fraud in their trade dealings will be removed from the board.

The trade area has some very specific rules and standards for posts in order to keep the area as organized as possible and fair for all members using it.

Please review the rules and standards below before posting anything in the Black Market section.

1.0 This is a WWII board. Large lists of Star Wars, Monsters, Modern, medieval gear, etc probably shouldn't be listed here. If you must do so, non-WWII era lists MUST be clearly indicated as such in the subject.

2.0 Members may only have one active thread in the Black Market area at any time.

3.0 Please keep your trade thread current. As you make trades, update your list so it only has items you still have for trade. This is for your benefit in not having to answer mail about items that are already gone, as well as sparing those contacting you needless disappointment.

3.1 Clear items that are gone off the list, don't just post "Sold." Use "Pending" for items that are in process. This keeps your list cleaner and easier for others to read.

4.0 Give some indication what you have or need in the thread's subject line. This makes it far easier for those that are interested in your items to locate them on the board.

5.0 The following abbreviations may be considered standard and their use in subject lines is strongly encouraged:
FT - For Trade
FS - For Sale
FS/FT - For Sale or Trade
WTB - Wanted to buy
WTT - Wanted to trade for
WTB/WTT - Wanted to buy or trade for
MIB - Mint in box
MIP - Mint in package

6.0 No Ebay listings or announcements are allowed in the Black Market Area. All Ebay posts MUST be placed in "Going, Going, Gone"

7.0 Do not bump your own post more than once in 48 hours and then do so if needed by editing, not adding a reply.

8.0 Items should be listed in a vertical column, not just in a sentence with commas. Every item should get it's own line.

Correct:
Item 1
Item 2
Item 3
Item 4
Item 5

Unacceptable:
Item 1,Item 2,Item 3,Item 4, Item 5

The latter style is nearly impossible to read in a list with more than a couple items, and is strongly discouraged. This is for your own good in securing trades in an efficient manner.

8. Be considerate of those that take the time to contact you about trades. Actually read all of the email sent to you about trades, answer questions, respond as promptly as time and circumstance allow. This is simple common courtesy.

9.0 The Black Market area is not an auction house. In general, you should trade with the first person who responds to you with an acceptable trade. For example if you ask to trade an M1 Garand for an MP44 and someone immediately responds with an MP44, you should go with that individual (provided you're comfortable with trading with them otherwise), rather than the guy who responds six hours later offering an MP44 and three extra magazines (which you never requested). Denying trades from honorable members who offer you exactly what you asked for, in order to take a later deal with "sweetener" will only result in you getting a bad rep for being greedy and not following through. If you feel you must auction the items to the highest bidder, please go to e-bay.

10.0 Your post should clearly indicate how to get in touch with you. email addresses such as:
"johnNOSPAMsmith@hokeypokey.com" or johnremovesmith@hokeypokey.com"
are fine if you're worried about automated junkmail collection software grabbing your address from a posting. Enabling and using ezBoard's built in private messaging feature is also a reasonable alternative for trade communications.

10.1 The person reading the trade listing, should read and respect the contact method requested by the person posting the ad. If someone ask you to reply via email and you simply post "hey dude, I want this that, and the other thing", you've simply shown that either you can't read except what you feel like, or you're too lazy to honor the request of the person posting the listing. Either way they are under no obligation to deal with you if you can't be bothered to honor their preferred contact method.

10.2 If after initiating a deal, you are having trouble contacting someone later, there are certain steps to follow. First try the initial contact method you used, and any alternates which may be possible, like checking their ezboard profile to see if private messaging is enabled. If that doesn't work (after a reasonable period of time has elapsed), you may place a "page" post in the Off Target area with a subject like "Bob Smith: Please get in touch with me". This is to be considered a last resort though. This method may also be used in contacting someone who is MIA from the board when not related to a trade issue, but again, it is a last resort when nothing else had worked.

Also bear in mind, people have real lives, they go on business trips and vacations, they and their familys get sick, computers crash etc. Try to cut those you're dealing with a reasonable amount of slack in getting back to you before you start getting into a panic.

11.0 Try to keep your trade lists reasonable in length. Excessively long lists are actually counter productive and don't tend to get read carefully. If you have a large number of items to trade, try to break it up into smaller lots and trade one away, then post the next, etc.

12.0 When a deal is done, please edit the subject to "Please Delete" so staff can remove it and keep the trade area clean and easy to read.

13.0 If no one responds to your trade list after you have bumped it once or twice, maybe it is time to rethink your strategy and modify your prices or what you want in trade. Bumping the same list which isn't generating replies over and over is pointless and a waste of everyone's time.

14.0 Treat other traders the way you would like to be treated.
