The era of world history covered by the board's focus includes many political ideologies, some with more than unfortunate consequences.
This board in no way supports the political doctrines of Fascism, Nazism or Communism.
Discussions of these political subjects, except as they directly impact the accurate depiction of the military forces of the era, are not acceptable here.
The focus of this board is on the depiction of the common soldier of the WWII era. Users are requested to refrain from posting about political subjects or non-military political organizations(Allegemeine SS, Gestapo, etc).
4.1 Depiction of war criminals, criminal behaviour, symbology, slogans
Likewise, the depiction of criminal behaviour here is unacceptable. This is not intended to imply or convey that unfortunate events such as the mistreatment and even execution of POWs did not occur, to use that as an example, but rather to maintain the board's focus on those who served their respective countries with honor.
The use of the images of criminal individuals (whether convicted or having evaded conviction by death or other means) or the symbols associated with criminal organizations, as board personal photos, avatars or personal signatures is not allowed. This includes Swastikas, SS Runes or portraits of individuals like Hitler, Himmler or Heydrich for example.
The above rule does not disallow the depiction of proper insignia on Waffen SS combat troops within a historical figure context, just bars the adoption of such as personal standards here.
Slogans or mottos associated with criminal organizations such as the nazi party are not acceptable here either as member "handles" nor in personal signatures used here.
If you are unsure about a particular subject, slogan or image's suitability, please consult the board staff.
4.2 Political discussion and current events
As a matter of common sense, this is a military themed board, based in the US, with many active duty personnel and veterans present. The average member here is very pro-US, pro-democracy, supports the US military and tends to skew somewhat to the conservative side of the political spectrum. We try to discourage current era political discussion here, but it does occur occasionally anyway, and if your political views happen to be somewhat to the left of Charman Mao's or are decidedly confrontational and anti-US, and you can't stand to not express them, you may find fitting in here difficult at times.
This doesn't imply you don't have a right to your own alternative views or political theories, just a caution that trying to promote leftist, totalitarian or anti-American views here will likely lead to strife, and it's simpler and more logical for the staff to remove the source of the disruption if necessary, rather than fight to get the rest of the members to tolerate the irritant, especially when such philosophical disputes are not intended to be tackled here.
