I've just finished two Osprey "Warrior" volumes, "German Security and Police Soldier 1935-45", and "Soviet Rifleman 1941-45".
Good info, but the artwork wasn't up to Ron Volstad's standard, so to speak...

I enjoyed The Korsun Pocket as well. It's a good read. There was not as much low level detail as I would have liked. Until the
last couple of chapters everything was more on the operational level. Great OOB information for the units involved in the battle. Some more photos would have
been nice also. My biggest complaint with the book was the number of typos. Does no one use proofreaders anymore?
I've just finished The German Aircraft Carrier Graf Zeppelin by Siegfreid Breyer and now I'm reading Mud: A Military History by C.E. Wood. |

The Wolfgang Willrich book by Klaus J. Peters has some great portraits of German soldiers, sailors and airmen in it. No doubt some great ideas for custom
soldiers. Now I'm reading The Drama Of The Scharnhorst by Fritz-Otto Busch.

I just finished World War II Commanders: From The Attack On Poland To The Surrender Of Japan by Ian Westwell. I picked this one up
at Barnes & Nobles after Christmas for what seemed a decent price. As of yesterday there were no online reviews so information of the book was scanty.
This book is supposed to be an overview of the notable commanders of World War II. I think of commanders as being military folks but this book is all over the
place with what it characterizes as "commanders". In the 192 pages there are many, many errors. How many are factual or merely typos? Hard to say,
but does it matter, as an error is an error. To me the worst thing is the sloppy captioning of photos. I spotted many errors in the photos of Germans and
Americans (the ones I'm most familiar with). As an example the author confused Omar Bradley with George S. Patton in one photo. I'm not a tree hugger
but a lot of innocent trees died to produce this mess. Now I'm reading Luftwaffe At War: Airwar Over The
Atlantic by Manfred Griehl.
