21 Century Jeep Question |
Lead | |
|
I have just aquired a 21 Century Jeep. How do I disassemble the wheels? I have removed the 3 screws from the back of the wheel but it still won't separate.
Also How do you remove the spare tire from the back of the Jeep? I would like to mold the either the spare tire or one of the wheels to make a couple tires to
make a 1/4T trailor to haul behind the Jeep. Thank you in advance.... Harold

The 21st Century Schwimmer needed to have the plastic wheels pryed/ popped off of the axels on mine (Was quite the gut wrenching process that had me wondering
if what I was doing was right). Not sure about the Jeep although I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same.

Can't figure out how to get the spare tire off the back of the Jeep as of yet there's no screw inside the hole where the hole plug is and the wheel
doesn't rotate on the mount, got me baffled

Well I figured out how to get the spare tire off the mount on the Jeep .... it is just a pressure fit no screws etc. You just carefully twist the wheel and the
shaft comes out of the mount. So that's solved. Now to see if I can make a mold of the wheel

Good for you! It appears that your persistence and thought paid off. I have had similar problems with wheel removal, only on a vintage GI Joe jeep. Thanks for posting your solution. Best, SoF Joe Peace through Superior Firepower. |

Are you trying to remove the four wheels from the jeep? If so, take the front wheels, one in each hand and twist the wheels in the opposite directions at the
same time. With a little work and patience, they will come off of the axle. Same thing goes for the rear wheels on the rear axle.
The three screws on the back of the wheels have nothing to do with removing the wheels from the axle. |

I realise that Mutt, I wanted to take the wheels apart. You know separate the tire from the rim. I'm concidering of possibly converting to rc, but that is
just a thought running through my head.

I'm also looking for the hinge detail for the hood. I have done a "google" image search just useing the word Jeep and looked through about 35
pages of pics but have found nothing. Anyone have a cpl good clear pics or even a line drawing would be great. Thank you in advance
