Simple answer to your question... American or even better Western allies (British, Australian, etc) did not participate in the Chinese theater all that much. The British did lots of fighting in Malaya, Singapore, Burma and India for the large part. American forces were minimally involved in combat in China at all. Only the American Volunteer Group was in China and Burma until July of 1942 when they became the Chinese Air Task Force which, in turn, became the 14th AirForce. With minimal equipment, old aircraft and supplies that had to be flown over the "Hump", during the six months that the AVG flew, they were credited to shooting down 279 Japanese aircraft (Japanese records indicated only 110 losses) while losing 22 pilots. While not an official unit of the US, in 1995, the AVG was officially recognized as an American fighting unit and all pilots were awarded the Distingushed Flying Cross and ground crews the Bronze Star and the unit awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

There were supposed to be 16 B-25 bombers flown over to China via Japan (the Doolittle raid on Tokyo) but they wound up scattered over most of China (one to Russia in early lend "steal").

The 5307th Composite Group (Provisional) was formed in India from 3000 US Army volunteers from the US, SW Pacific and Caribbean Command to assist the British and Chinese to reopen the Ledo Road and allow overland supplies to get from India to China. Under the command of BG Frank Merrill, the 5307th was nicknamed "Merrill's Marauders" and fought in Burma without a supply line other than the C-47's that dropped supplies to them. After numerous "end runs", that outflanked Japanese units, the Marauders had marched over 750 miles and captured the important town of Myitkina. The Marauders fought 5 major actions, 32 skirmishes and lost over 700 troopers of the original 3000. Of the 1300 Marauders who fought at Myitkina, almost 680 were soon evacuated due to illness and wounds. Merrill's Marauders have been recognized as the "great grandfathers" to the Army Special Forces and Ranger forces. Every Marauder was awarded the Bronze Star and the unit recognized by the Presidential Unit Citation.

There was lots of fighting done on the Chineses mainland but not enough to interest the American or Western viewing public.
