The Unterfeldwebel has moved his squad forward another hundred meters or so, when he decides it is time to deploy his men in a skirmish line, know in German as
a Schutzenkette. He signals the men with another hand signal.
The men hurry to deploy.

The Unterfeldwebel indicates "Vorwärts!" ("Forward!")
The men move forward cautiously, knowing they may come face to face with the enemy at any time.

Meanwhile, the Gefreiter has arrived and is giving his report to the Oberleutnant. The men listen intently.
"We heard shots. What happened?"
"I found the Americans, Herr Oberleutnant."
"Go ahead with your report, Herr Gefreiter."
The men continue to listen as the Gefreiter makes his report.
He finishes his report. "Danke, Herr Gefreiter, good work. Now fall in with your squad!"
The Oberleutnant turns to the Unteroffizier and says, "Herr Unteroffizer, you will lead your men forward to support the first squad."
"Jawohl, Herr Oberleutnant!"
He gives the order.
The squad hurries forward.
The Gefreiter looks like he'd rather be riding his motorcycle.
