Stains from Did's black uniforms |
Lead | |
|
I've had problems with DiD's suede-like black SS uniforms causing black stains on figures and other uniform items. (My brand new Willi Bauer looks
like crap with stains on his white belt!) Anyway, has anyone discovered a way to "pre-treat" these items so they don't stain others?
Thanks! |

Soak them in a 50/50 water/vinegar mixture, then rinse them in cold water.
Use a test area, first, though. This is a recipe from the Men With Dolls Forum that I've had success with. Let me know how you make out.

Sounds good, I'll give it a try. Now, any suggestions on removing the stains from the white pleather belt? I tried scrubbing it off with baby wipes and
Clorox cleaning wipes to no avail.

Dragon's suede type material like this had a smiliar staining problem. I've never cared for the looks of this suede type material. I had not heard
that there was a fix.

@Von13: I can't recall any DML garments that were made of the suede-like material except for a few German sheep-skin winter jackets, and I can't
imagine them staining. Which items are you referring to?
@Portico: Thanks for the tip; I've got good advice off of MWD board before. I've also heard that a simple cold water rinse works, so I think I'll try that first before going to the vinegar mixture - less smell! I'm going to try it on Willi's tunic, as I dressed him in the greatcoat, and kept the tunic off to reduce bulk. If it works, I'll have to work my way through Willi, Josef Wunsche and the old Scarfuhrer. Luckily Grimminger and all the other black unis I have are regular cloth! |

The Coldstream Guards had them. and Sgt. Jones the Zulu war figure, and Jean the Napoleonic figure. As Far as German stuff I think the Luftwaffe air crew
figure Johannes Patzer has a goofy looking (in my opinon) flightsuit that I believe is made out of the stuff.
Dragon's German sheepskin jackets were made uot of a different material.

Duh! I wasn't even thinking about the Coldstreamers and Jones! Never had Jean or Patzer. And yeah, you're right about the sheepskin jackets - they were
just the closest thing I could think of during my bout of forgetfulness.
