I just finished "The Steel Wave", Jeff Shaara's second novel in his trilogy of fictional accounts of the US involvement in the
ETO, which started with "The Rising Tide".
Today, I started Chris Mann's "Hitler's Arctic War: The German Campaigns in Norway, Finland, and the USSR 1940-1945". Should be a relatively brief, but interesting, read. Next in the pipeline is "Hitler's Empire: How the Nazis Ruled Europe" by Mark Mazower. |

My most recent military history read was Waffen-SS In Action by Gordon Rottman and Ramiro Bujeiro. I have just started
Weapons Of Desperation: German Frogmen And Midget Submarines Of World War II by Lawrence Paterson. So far
it seems pretty good.

on Death In The Doldrums: U-Cruiser Actions Off West Africa by Bernard Edwards.

I'm currently finishing "The Phony War: 1939-1940" by Tom Shachtman. It's a great study of the very early war period, from Summer 1939
(immediately prior to the invasion of Poland) to Summer 1940 (immediately following the occupation of France and the Low Countries).
Next up is "1948: A History of the First Arab-Israeli War". |
