Likewise, which mine indicator flag carrier is more accurate? DiD's version or DML's version? I have both, but I'm not sure which one to use.
Thanks!

I'm going crazy here! I used to have links to sites that had a guide on what colors the piping on shoulder boards represented, but I can't seem to find
them anymore. I'm doing an SS-Sturmpionier on a whim based on some old THeodor Wolte stuff I got, but I want to get him just right!

Most SS pionier formations used black piping, just like the Heer. There were two exceptions, though. Small pionier units (usually platoons) that were part of
infantry battalions used the white waffenfarbe of their parent infantry units. And some panzer-pioniers used a braided white/black piping, since the initial
black piping was deemed unsuitable when used with the all-black panzer uniforms.

The DID Flag pouch was a little bit better if remember right, I think their pleather stuff looks a little better usually. The Strap on it should be a grey or tan web though.

Hi
If you want to be accurate, then forget about the "mine indicator flag" pouch because these are Gas indicator flags or to be more precise a "satz Gasspürfähnchen" here a few pictures of the pouch and flags in use

By pouch are you referring to the pouch on the gasmask canister strap? early war regs stated it was to be worn on the front of the body on the strap BUT alot
put them on their canisters so they would be out of the way dispite orders. I have asked some vets about this and they said in the field regs were laxer than
in barracks. Ask anyone who is in the service or was in the service you set up your rig which served you best.
Notice in the last pic the obershutz is only wearing the gasmask and none of the rest of the gas gear so it is possible this is a training exercise and could be early war since they seem to be wearing m36 tunics. Still some great reference photos |

Thanks Scott
@pzrwest: We're talking about the gas flag pouch, not the gas cape pouch .... here some pictures of the gas flag pouches from my collection from both cloth and ersatz leather:

I always thought they were mine flags but if you look in the pics they are the same flags you can see the skull and bones clearly in the first set of pics,
pics 3 & 4. I find it funny in the last pic one soldier is wrapped up like a mummy in protective gear and the other soldier along side is just wearing a
gas mask and no other protection not even gloves. What are they spreading?
