Paul Triquet, VC, CD
April 2, 1910-August 8, 1980
Royal 22e Regiment
Ortona, Italy 12/14/1943
Paul Triquet was 33 years old, and a Captain in the Royal 22e Régiment, Canadian Army, (Canadian Infantry Corps) during the Second World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.
On 14 December 1943 during the attack on Casa Berardi, Italy, when all the other officers and half the men of his company had been killed or wounded, Captain Triquet dashed forward and, with the remaining men, broke through the enemy resistance. He then forced his way on with his small force - now reduced to two sergeants and 15 men - into a position on the outskirts of Casa Berardi. They held out against attacks from overwhelming numbers until the remainder of the battalion relieved them next day. Throughout the action Captain Triquet's utter disregard for danger and his cheerful encouragement were an inspiration to his men.

This first version of is of Capt. Triquet as he appears in the book about the battle of Ortona. It shows him as he about to receive his VC. The headsculpt and bodies are the DML "Ian" figure, which I thought looked a lot like Mr. Triquet. All the insignia are from CVI. The helmet is a modified DML version, using the tutorial posted by Tony Barton. I gave him an elastic webbing chinstrap. The BD are modified from BBI, which is what I try to use for all my Canadiens. The collar has been ironed open and repainted to a kahki color. The tie and shirt are from the DID "Coleman" figure. The webbing and ammo pouch/compass pouch and Universal pouch are from BBI. The binoculars are from DML with a leather strap added. The canteen holder and pistol holster are custom made by me. The boots are from ITPT, which I like to use for my Canucks also. The gaiters are modified DML ones, again using a tutorial by Tony Barton.

I decided to make this figure wearing 2 different uniforms, as I got the idea to do him from the osprey book on the Canadian Army at War.
This figure was made with Major. Triquet in a KD uniform, with a BBI top and DML trousers. The gaiters are modified DML ones, and the boots are from ITPT German figures. The web belt and braces are from DML,as is the pistol ammo/compass pouch. The pistol holster is from BBI. The binocular case, and valise are custom made by me. The beret is from banjoman that I got off of ebay, and the cap badge is from Tony Barton.

thanks for looking, and Happy New Year to all my friends across the pond.
