These are some new pics of my 1944 Willy's MB. It kinda reminds me of the Johnny Cash song "One Piece at a Time", since it seems to be a '44 Tub on a '45 chassis, along with a few post war additions!

The Jeep was sold by France in 1982 as 'surplus', and purchased by a WWII Vet who had served as a Sgt. in an ordinance disposal squad. He marked the Jeep as he remembered his was marked during WWII. He did no restoration to the jeep (only maintenance), and it has only needed minor work on my end. (Replaced the Nam-era trailer plug with a correct WWII one. Replaced the CJ horn with a WWII repro, replaced the CJ rims and CCNDTs with original combat rims and correct tires, new plugs, wires, etc.)
In 1966, during its service with the French, it underwent a rebuild at Maltournee.

There are a few mysteries, like these holes lined up through the under-dash passenger gusset,to an under-dash bracket, and then hole in the firewall. (Radio power cable?)

Also has a mystery hole in the dash, to the right of the light switch, and extra 'bolts going nowhere' on the front of the hood:

Oh . . . and yes, those are 'eyes' in the windshield, as suggested by my 6 year old daughter. The Jeep is always recognized as 'Sarge' by
kids at cruise night!
