Finally get a new folding stock Carbine with a leg scabbard, but WHY did they put a bayonet lug on it??? Typical DiD error I guess. Some other nice items included though. If he was to be from Market Garden, he'd have to be 504th since he's still wearing the M-42 uniform. But I'm saying more Normandy time, based on the helmet camo and the reinforced jump suit. But it is from DiD, and they are not known for their historical accuracy on time frames for uniforms and weapons, so he could be Sicily... Just Kidding, love you DiD... Maybe next time, we can see a release with the same helmet, but make him a Pathfinder with a AN/PP1 Eureka Beacon or Halophane or Aldis Lamp set up... -JOSH

The Mae West is terrific for Normandy drops but seems weird without a parachute. I wonder if DiD is or was thinking about including that in the offering. The carbine lug is a goof. but unless the weapon is metal that's easily fixed. He's definitely not a market garden para; although with a set of modified NLM M43's he could easily be one. I love the leg sheath and the rigger's pouch with the DiD LTD closure. Definitely and upgrade. The Camo helmet can make its way into several bashes. The grease gun will no doubt re-ignite the famous debate over the scale of that weapon. Oldsters like me remember the BBi vs. DML version 1 vs. DML version 2 debate that raged on the board a while back. But the helmet looks overscale in DiD's pictures, IMHO. Looks like it sits a little high, too. But the rest of the parts look good.

I see alot of good things coming out of this release. I like Josh 51st idea of the pathfinder, and all the beacon/lamp equipment. I know its just been announced, but what type of price are we looking at for this?

BUT.... a lot of new goodies to round out my Normandy Paratroopers... a new supply of M1C helmets w/chin cup (unless DiD changed their US helmets...the size is perfect-DiD's uS Helmets are still the best ones available in 1/6th) carbine holster camo-parachute scarf wrist compass M-6 fighting knife w/ scabbard Re-inforced M42s...in a lighter shade of OD3 than the previous Corbin Black fig. ( I find the DiD M42s useful...still not up to the standard of the Dan Summer's M42s (that Damned DiD zipper!)...but they can be made to look pretty good on a 'slimmed-chest' figure All the above items look pretty good...I'll have to wait and see what the grease gun looks like... I would agree that this would have to be a Normandy-era trooper...but as stated above, he'd work for a 504th Market-Garden guy Oh...and the 'tough guy' head sculpt looks GREAT! Bruce

But can anyone comment if the Grease gun is accurate? And any retailer here knows the para's release date? On the DID website it says "June 2008"... It should have the flip site for that time frame. To be really knit picky, I wonder if it has the 2 or 4 hole hand guard, should be 2 hole. Nice looking release though. I bet the helmet sits high due to the hair on the sculpt. The grease gun at least has a shorter barrel unlike Dragon's second release of this weapon. Their second release one looked like it had been copied after the civilian version with a 16 inch barrel rather than the 8 inch military version. I do not hit, IT hits all by itself. SFA# D-7272-L

I missed out on the Corbin Black and basically built him piece by piece and turned him into an engineer from the 101st. I can use his helmets and try and do a Captain Hamill, or just add netting. Man talk about the bashes. I might as well start in on that platoon of 101st and 82nd paratroopers. DiD has definitely upped the ante with it's last three paratroopers, ranger and japanese soldier. It just keeps getting better in my mind.

Great looking M42 jump uni. The grease gun looks proportionally scaled - the cocking lever identifies it as the earlier M3 version. FWIW, the H&C book on St. Lo has a photo of one in use during the Normandy campaign. Lots of nice bits here and a few that I'll swap out. -Dave

These uniforms were modified for Normandy only and I believe the 504th did not participate in D-Day. Anyway, the few surviving photos show only unmodified M42's in Holland. "Ha, Doctor! I have you! Remember the good old days when Dragon would have instantly countered with a paratrooper figure of its own carrying twice as much gear?
